2011 Charity Luncheon
After last year’s excellent charity luncheon at Nutters restaurant we decided to hold another this year, this time in aid of President Ann’s charity, the Rochdale Hospice.
After a welcoming drink, Andrew Nutter gave us a little chat about the meal which we were about to eat. Around eighty members and friends then partook of that meal – it was delicious. Three courses - pea soup, a main course of smoked haddock with a topping of rarebit followed by a medley of three sweets!
Shirley of Butterfly, provided our entertainment by demonstrating novel ways of tying scarves. She was one of our stall holders selling handbags and scarves. Our other stall holder was Wendy who had a wonderful selection of jewelleryfor sale. Both ladies were extremely busy as our visitors clambered around them with purses in hand.
Shirley and Wendy kindly donated attractive prizes for us to raffle separately from our own raffle which together with the proceeds from the rest of the afternoon enabled us to make a substantial presentation to the Hospice.
